(Edit: This is NOT an April Fool’s day “joke”. I cannot stand that kind of puerile humour, even when I was mostly puerile.)

A former Catholic brother has been found guilty of molesting a teenager he was counselling at Saint Stanislaus College in Bathurst.
William Irwin, 55, has been found guilty of two counts of gross indecency on a male under 18 in the mid-1980s.

“Molesting”. “Indecency”. “Assault”. For fuck’s sake, why not call it rape?

Irwin told the jury he had never been to Saint Stanislaus College with the youth, let alone assaulted him there.
The jury was not told of a “strictly confidential” church file in which Irwin was recorded as having admitted “the bed incident” after the youth’s parents made a complaint.

Another clear case of institutionalised church complicity with outrageous crimes against humanity.

The complainant, now 41, told the jury he was 17 when Irwin took him on a road trip from Melbourne and sexually abused him when they stayed overnight at Saint Stanislaus.
But Irwin denied even going to Bathurst with the youth or having earlier taken him to The Wall area of Sydney to plant the idea in his head of homosexual contact.
After Irwin’s arrest in 2009, he was stood down from his teaching job at Saint Aloysius College at Milsons Point, on Sydney’s lower north shore, a day school for boys run by the Jesuits.

Oh noes! Stood down! The ultimate Catholic penalty for rape, as well as perjury.

The jury was told that shortly after their son revealed Irwin’s abuse, his parents complained to the then Vincentian provincial, Father Gerald Scott.

Ha! They have high hopes!

But the jurors were not told of the provincial’s file…

Of course not. That would have been the right thing to do in the interests of the child. The correct legal thing to do as well. The proper moral course of action.

No wonder the Catholic bastards shied away from it like a vampire from a crucifix.

…or that the parents said they did not go to police after they were promised Irwin would not work with youngsters again.

An outrageous LIE, of course. A lie that supported the knowing commission of further crimes, making the lie itself a serious crime.

He subsequently became a dormitory master at Saint Stanislaus and a teacher at Saint Aloysius.

A dorm master?!?!? The sole adult legally in charge of (in loco parentus) a gaggle of kiddies in their bedrooms for every night of their school year, barring hols?

What the fuck were the admin thinking?

This is a paedophile’s dream come true!

Especially after only having been employed at a ‘day school’, where they victims go home at the end of a day.

They not only lied to the parent’s, but lied in such an egregious manner that I cannot find the words to describe their cold, cynical contempt for any form of humanity.

The hierarchy who placed a known paedophile rapist in this position are themselves guilty of procuring children for the express purpose of prostitution, and should be arrested and prosecuted forthwith.

Irwin himself was a student at Saint Stanislaus in the 1970s and later became a member of the Vincentian order.

So, he knew the ropes, as it were. Exactly how to do it as an “inside job”.

Agatha Christie couldn’t have invented such a nasty, dastardly plot.

Irwin, who was based at the college from 1980 to 1983 and from 1987 to 1989, met the complainant and his parents when he worked in a Melbourne parish.
When the youth was 15 he was sexually assaulted by another man, who later pleaded guilty and was jailed.

A priest? Or at least a Catholic, I expect.

There are no moral depths of perversion to which a Catholic will not stoop nor sink

The complainant told the jury the assault left him with very low self-esteem.
“I felt quite depressed and very confused,” he said, adding that he began counselling with Brother Bill who seemed to understand him.

Clearly grooming.

“He would quietly reassure me. I could feel free that I could talk about many issues with him and he was never fazed.”
When he tried to explain his feelings, Irwin would often put his arms around his shoulder and gave him a hug at the end of a session – gestures which he did not find inappropriate.

But when they stayed overnight at the Bathurst college he said Irwin invited him into his room and to lie down on his bed.

He said Irwin kissed him, fondled him and then got him to masturbate Irwin and vice-versa.

This terminal act constitutes clear statutory rape.

“Brother Bill said we should keep this to ourselves,” he said.

Ah, the Catholic way. Ain’t it sweet?

The Mafia Godfather learned well from the RCC Godfather.

“I just remember tossing and turning that night thinking about what had happened and feeling very confused. I remember I was upset.”

Judge Ronald Solomon continued Irwin’s bail and will hear sentencing submissions on July 22.

Bring back the rack.
