Buying tickets to see the Pope?
Well, the payment is for the buses to transport “pilgrims”.
I used to think a pilgrimage involved some kind of effort on the part of the believer – like traipsing barefoot through several countries toward Mecca. Now it seems somebody can complete a pilgrimage by hopping on a bus to Birmingham and eating a pub lunch after the event.
This is of course just noise to hide the main facts of the matter :-
the Pope is the head of a religious sect most notable in recent years for its endemic sexual abuse of children, particularly young boys, in which concealment of crimes was church policy and for which this current Pope has been personally implicated.
Untouchable in his home lair of Vatican City, attempts to obtain justice for victims in Britain is being squashed by new laws aimed at protecting the Pope from arrest and detention. This religious leader is being granted special exemption from earthly justice —
which is a pity, because we can’t count on heavenly justice.
