A plan to convert a place for the living into a place to worship a cult of death is allowed under council planning regulations, says GM George Cowan.

Controversial plans to transform a block of flats into a church in Lake Cargelligo have been amended in the wake of residents’ concerns.

Thirteen people have signed a petition opposing the project.

“It’s certainly allowable under the zoning for that property subject to conditions and it’s those conditions like hours of operation and access and things like that that are really matters for council to determine but it is permissible with consent,” he said.

He expressed concerns about car parking and noise, but not that the cult mandates the compulsory hacking-off of infant’s genitalia.

At least he has the council’s priorities correct.
