The member for Canning says many people in his electorate and across the country do not like the fact Ms Gillard is an atheist.

I actually believe that they dislike those who have a grasp of reality.

The Coalition has dumped its candidate for the Western Sydney seat of Chifley for criticising his opponent’s Muslim faith. [see below]

Party leader Tony Abbott says attacks based on people’s religious beliefs are unacceptable.

Mmm… I’ll keep that in mind, Mr. Abbott.

The Population Minister Tony Burke says Mr Abbott needs to hold all his candidates to the same standard on religious issues.

“What I would like to know is whether or not those views will also relate to his candidate in the seat of Canning,” he said.

I agree.

Mr Randall would not comment about the decision to dump the Chifley candidate, but did not think his comments were in the same vein.

“It’s a criticism of the fact that the electorate has deep concerns about an un-godly leader leading Australia,” he said.

He is using the old escape clause: He did not say these things, his voters are voicing this bigotry. A ‘get out of jail free’ card provided by casual rhetoric.

But:

Mr Randall says Australia was built on Christian values, which provide the basis for being a better leader.

That is so wrong on so many levels!

For instance

  • Australia was built on Aboriginal values.
  • Christianity does not provide a basis for being a better leader by any reasonable definition of the word “better”, unless it serves as an overt example of how not to be good. Has this MP ever read the bible? I doubt it.

“We expect out leaders to convey and portray good Christian values,” he said.

Who are “we”? Not me, mate!

What are ‘good Christian values’? Slavery? Killing your kids for giving you lip? Stoning for adultery? Invasion & genocide as a solution to land-disputes?

NO? Perhaps it the death penalty for wearing polyester/cotton mix.

Even ‘gentle Jesus meek & mild’ demands that good christians completely abandon wealth, as well as their families.

Perhaps this MP thinks that subjection of women as being less valuable than donkeys are good Christian values?

I’ll bet I never get a coherent sensible answer to this basic enquiry.

This MP is utterly ignorant of what christianity demands.

But that’s religion for you: a studied application in denying reality.

If you vote for ignoramuses such as the above examples, you get what you deserve.

Sacked Liberal stands by anti-Muslim comments

Opposition leader Tony Abbott says Mr Barker is “gone, finished” as a candidate after he posted the remarks on Facebook and attacked his opponent’s Muslim faith.

Mr Barker has told the ABC there should not be a Muslim in Parliament and he has also taken a swipe at Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s lack of faith.

“I’m not anti-Muslim. I believe every one should have their own beliefs,” he said.

But not a lack of belief, eh?

“But I don’t know if we want at this stage in Australian politics a Muslim in the Parliament and an atheist running the Government.”

Again, who is this mythical “we”?

I DO want an atheist running the Government!

I want those with infantile beliefs in a “magical sky-pixie that will get them out of trouble when muttered to”, to be banned from office, the same way that any mentally ill person is banned.
