Cretinism to be taught in Queensland classrooms
Creationism, Cretinism, Lies, Delusional Bullshit: it’s all the same thing really.
The deep north state that brought you the shameless pirate Jo Bjelke, Pauline Hanson and other illiterate bigots is now solidifying its reputation as the Texas of Oz by introducing that the lie and fraud called ‘creationism’ be drummed into our children’s defenseless minds in place of reality.
Creationism to be taught in Queensland classrooms
CREATIONISM and intelligent design will be taught in Queensland state schools for the first time as part of the new national curriculum.
Creationists dismiss the science of evolution, instead believing that living things are best explained by an intelligent being or God, rather than an undirected process such as natural selection.
Creationism AND ID? They are exactly the same thing! (Although some have charitably referred to Intelligent Design as “Creationism in Lipstick”)
But the imbeciles seem to possess some form of rudimentary awareness, and appear to have learned from their fellow USA hicks that it needs to be introduced by stealth. A frontal attack on science is likely to fail.
So, they are sneaking it in the the back door. (A fave of many Xtians!)
In Queensland schools, creationism will be offered for discussion in the subject of ancient history, under the topic of “controversies”.

I scanned through the “draft national history curriculum” on http://www.qhta.com.au/
and the history teachers’ response to it; can’t find any mention of evolution or analysing controversy.
I wonder what the basis of the article is, because it seems to be well hidden.
Also http://www.atheistfoundation.org.au/forums/showthread.php?p=89630
says that in 2006, there were “106 schools officially teaching ID in a sympathetic manner”. This is much more worrying.

Thanks for these links.
I shall investigate them when opportunity permits.

I, too, cannot find a HINT of of woo in that draft curriculum. In fact, it scans as entirely sensible.
But I also find no mention of ANCIENT HISTORY, to which the original objections referred. The document is a general history curriculum. Perhaps that is the source of the apparent disconnect?

Ah, here we are:
http://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/Documents/SeniorYears/History/Ancient%20History.pdf
Page 7.
This is even worse than reported. “Darwin’s theory of evolution” (sorry folks, not just Darwin any more!) is not controversial unless you’re blinded by religious prejudice. Radio-carbon dating is not controversial unless you reject science. Tracing human migration using DNA is not controversial.
I don’t know how their Historical methods stand up when they contradict actual Science. I mean, if you doubt that isotope analysis effectively dates ancient objects, how are you going to prove it?

I have alerted Lyn Allison & Bob Brown of this, just in case they could not locate it. Bob is preparing a senate submission to halt official mandatory prayers in parliament.
