Pope blames Bad Seeds for child abuse
In a typical move, the pope has claimed that the bad seeds (read: thousands of child-molestors taking refuge in his rich, international faith organisation) shouldn’t eclipse the good done by the nice priests (the ones who, presumably, don’t stick their cock inside children).
In these last months we have had to repeatedly confront news that aims to take away the joy in the church, to obscure it as a place of hope.
Nick Cave has declined to comment.

Gen 19:30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
Gen 19:33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
Deu 22:9 Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled.
Very Bad Seeds, with the Cave reference, all there in the KJV!

Tonight’s 7:30 Report on the ABC had a piece about the catholic church’s poor handling of Australian sex abuse cases.
In one case, the offences were “substantiated” and the responsible bishop did nothing for 10 years and then referred the abusive priest to counselling.
In another case, the abusive priest wasn’t defrocked, in fact he celebrated his 50th year as a priest soon after the offences were recognised by the responsible bishop. Later on the bishop sent the abusive priest a letter telling him to not officiate at marriages or perform any catholic rites in public. The bishop went on to say “if he doesn’t follow these instructions, we will take action”.
What action? Write another letter? More stern this time?
Letter writing, defrocking … this is a totally inadequate response by the Catholic Church. These priests should be reported to the police, charged, tried, and jailed.

I have just (15:40 Tue 18 May 2010) posted an update on this very issue.
Police are investigating the Adelaide Archbishop Wilson’s rĂ´le in all of this, and not before time.
Let us hope that they have the support to actually uphold the law in this case.
Wilson should be arrested immediately.
