These Lunatics Have the Ears of Our Inglorious “Leaders”
From Kiwi-land comes more sordid tales of theocratic thuggery; the educational abomination known as “The Exclusive “Brethren”.
We all know that they walked hand-in-hand with Johnny Howard, and the leaders of the party in Australia, (split into two indistinguishable factions labelled Labour & Liberal) having, as they do, a dangerously pathological infantile obsession with invisible friends, could well hold the Brethren in awe, to the detriment of Australia.
First a teacher was sacked for teaching a Shakespeare text. Now, Joseph Barratt investigates what happened behind the high gates of the Government-subsidised Exclusive Brethren schools.
Imagine a school whose books had words blacked out or pages removed and large parts of the curriculum – particularly anything to do with puberty and sex – was simply not taught.
A school where teachers received unexpected late-night visits at home to check on their moral probity.
And where all aspects of school life are governed in every detail by a sacred text, but a committee has absolute discretion in deciding how to interpret it.
It may sound like the worst excesses of the Taleban in Afghanistan or the Iranian mullahs, but this is the prevailing orthodoxy in 15 Westmount schools across the country run by the Exclusive Brethren.
These mentally disturbed folk are dangerous. They ruin children’s lives. They are very strong in Australia. They must be stopped.

Michael i wholeheartedly agree they are dangerous.Specially when kids dont get to choose parents.
What makes matters much worse though is some folks have not thought through matters using very sound judgement, and have a biased opinion that pays little attention to all the facts and details available. For instance take this well known Auckland doctor named Dr Jim McVeagh who runs a blog and it seems has become a champion for this dangerous group of people .See his blog post here http://www.macdoctor.co.nz/2010/05/02/when-world-views-collide/
It seems maybe he knows a few Exclusive Brethren in person and seeing they seem reasonably fine people to him personally,he has decided any site on the internet complaining can only ever be quote “a sensationalist anti -EB website “.
Does this Doctor considder most people on this website actually have family in the EB ?.Does he bother to considder all the suicides ?,as a Doctor its disgusting that he seems to turn a blind eye to this aspect with such foolish ease.Does this Doctor ever considder in any great depth that its not just a matter of there being a website called peebs net trying to expose the problems and forwarn the public before more damage is done. Its actually been that this group has often been using underhanded tactics in elections and often been on the news. Its actually fact that video material exposing the actions of this cult proving it is not really so very honest for them to claim being so very Christian in the loving sense that most modern Christianitys try to suggest they stand for.
What worry me is folks like Dr Jim McVeagh send such mixed messages, that as thoughts of Doctors demand/command a certain ammount of special respect from other people of society who feel they have good reason to put some faith in these peoples thoughts .Who then pass these same thoughts onward.
Dr Jim trys to suggest he is critical of the EB,but still moves to suggest their faith and beliefs should be respected.
Imagine that a well known Auckland Doctor suggesting the public have respect for faith and beliefs of a cult that it is well known to cause much heartbreak and depression and even much worse …. SUICIDE .
How sad .And as far as i know this Doc also even claims to be Christian himself. One wonders how many Christians would wish to suggest they could honestly imagine their Jesus publically putting in a good word for a cult thats split and devided husbands and wives and families and caused so much heartbreak that a number of times already had ended in suicide.
And these people then wonder just how the likes of Dawkins and co, could be so terrible as to dare go calling Christians stupid arrogant and ignorant etc
What else do these faithful folks ever expect ?
