Put this book on your Do NOT Buy list
“INSIDE the Human Genome: a case for non-intelligent design” by John C. Avise, Oxford University Press.
A superficially attractive title, and one which I would have bought, had I not been pre-warned about its stupid accomodationist content.
The book rightly shows that the human genome is a criminal mess, infested with parasites & with wholly inadequate control & repair mechanisms.
If this was designed, it was by a malevolent buffoon. And whilst demonstrating that is admirable, he jumps not to the conclusion that folks should abandon their fictional sky-torturer, but ineptly concludes:
The evolutionary-genetic sciences can thus help religion… return to its rightful realm… as a respectable philosopher counsellor on grander matters including ethics & morality.
WTF??? Truly unbelievable bullshit. When they get basic science so fucked-up, why would they do any better with morality?
Religions’ track-record on ‘morality’ is one of how NOT to do it since it began.
Atheists have more morality in their little fingers than does the whole of religion since time immemorial put together.
As I said: Only buy this book if you have alarmingly low blood-pressure and want an instant cure.
