Is the “Agressiveness” of the “New” Atheism a turn-off for Women?
Ophelia Benson answers:
The first issue is what “aggressive new atheism” is, and my view is that it is mostly a pejorative label applied to explicit, substantive, argumentative atheism by people who would prefer atheism to be shy and apologetic and unobtrusive, a label that has now spread and become entrenched. I am an argumentative atheist myself, and I don’t take argument to be a form of aggression.
